Indian Bridal Show

While we could write a recap of our show, we wanted to try something different and have one of our visitors share their experience instead:

There literally wasn’t much that could get me out of my cozy bed on Saturday when it was switching off between freezing rain and heavy wet snowflakes. But with a wedding that felt like it was right around the corner, The Big Fake Indian Wedding at the Hilton Boston in Woburn was what I needed to plan my interfaith wedding. I threw on my clothes, skipped a blow dry because…what was the point, and made my way there with my fiancé and best friend in tow.

When we arrived, in a covered parking garage to boot, I made my way up to level 3, checked my coat, collected a swag bag at registration (BONUS!) and made my way to their Shopping Bazaar. Immediately just perusing the gorgeous jewelry and colorful outfits, wedding ideas were already swirling in my mind.  I didn’t know there were so many options right here!  I spotted a statement necklace that would be perfect for my wedding weekend by Ruchita Dagli. I think the dreary New England weather had me hopeful for a hot night paired with a chunky colorful accessory so I also picked up a couple pieces for just a night out this summer from Shikha’s Glory. Then, I got to talking to Manisha from Henna Café at one of the high top tables and started planning the henna party for my big weekend. She couldn’t have been nicer and I could not have been getting more excited. Bringing my groom was possibly my best idea ever, he’s not exactly a planner, so being able to meet R I V E S S E was a godsend. We figured out his entire wedding wardrobe during the first hour!

Soon after that it was noon and the doors opened for The Big Fake Indian Wedding presentation. I made my way through the doors and was blown away.  I walked into a real wedding, and funny enough, I felt severely under dressed. I wanted my Indian Wedding to be a little more trendy than traditional red and gold pictures my fiance’s parents have shown me and Shaadi Bazaar nailed it. The draping and florals by Love Decor rested on a line between traditional and organic garden, which I love. They perfectly complimented the coral and gold draping of the mandap. Adding a little romance, the candles lining the ceremony aisle were pure magic. While I was sitting in my seat anxiously awaiting the bride and groom, I couldn’t help but take in the gorgeous uplighting by Silk Events, check that off my wedding to do list! The ceremony started and I was put at ease, it was great to see what our wedding will look like and the little details that my fiancé left out when he explained the ceremony to me! The bride was wearing a pastel lehenga by Sabyasachi, it was stunning and I had no idea that I didn’t have to wear red! On my pale white skin, I was dreading having to wear a maroon colored wedding outfit, another win for the show!

After the ceremony was over, we grabbed a tasty mock tail from the Hilton Woburn and made our way into the other half of the ballroom where we walked by a place card table setup by Printing and graphics.   I almost forgot that I would have to do these! We walked back into the ballroom to  see the reception setup, taste some delicious food from Masala Art and meet a bunch of wedding vendors that I had been excited to check out. My favorite highlight of this portion of The Big Fake Indian Wedding was seeing three different tables set up for three different styled weddings from Rentals Unlimited and Love Decor. Until that moment, I hadn’t realized how many options I had for linens!

The day went by fast and I was able to go home feeling better about having an Indian Wedding and seeing how it would all work together. I also had a ton more questions about was acceptable and traditional versus modern Indian weddings for my fiance and his family 🙂 We were able to meet a bunch of vendors that we needed to hire for my interfaith wedding weekend.
