Wedding Venues in Rhode Island and Massachusetts
When researching wedding venues, I followed my own advice (Questions to ask Venues) I contacted the visitors bureau, my friends in the wedding industry (thanks Paula, Sonia, Binita and Alexis), people I knew that got married in the area, friends to help me find venues. Yes, I had a small army giving me ideas me. The initial questions/ items to research online are: 1. Do you allow outside catering 2. What is your capacity? 3. What is the square feet of your ballroom? After all these are met then you can continue to look into them further, if they are not chances are they are not going to change their policies and/or your are not going to be able to squeeze your guests in.
I made the mistake of working with a wedding venue for 8 months before I just realized they didn’t want to work with me, but didn’t want to outright say no either. They were “so excited to host an ethnic wedding” this was their first time and they wanted to branch out. We met with the chefs went over the Indian menus and how the catering would work and 9 months later I am still waiting for an initial proposal. Why, you ask, because everything would have fallen into place and this was/is the ONLY venue in Rhode Island that can hold my numbers. Finding a space for 600ish guests in Rhode Island is impossible unless money is not a factor. If a venue or vendor for that matter does not respond to you in a timely fashion from the beginning think about all the months that you will be working with them- do you want that extra stress?
