MiniMoon and Honeymoon preplanning
Before you start booking and researching exotic locations for your 1-2 week honeymoon, think about whether it would be better to take a minimoon after the wedding and a honeymoon a few months after. We all know that planning your Big Fat Desi wedding is a full time job on it’s own, so why add the stress factor of having to pack a bag and plan a long trip right after just to have to come back and deal with your post wedding task list. In hindsight, many couples often wish they had finished everything before they left so that they could fully relax on their honeymoon and also come back without the stress of everything waiting for them.
As couples are finding it harder and harder to take time off for their wedding and honeymoon, many are opting to have a mini moon and postponing a traditional extended honeymoon. We absolutely love this idea for a multitude of reasons. The biggest one? You can save money- after spending a hefty chunk of change on your wedding events, taking a quick trip away for the weekend is a great way to save money. You can pick a location that doesn’t take long to get to, whether it’s a scenic drive or a short flight. Some couples have even had a staycation at a hotel in their hometown and ate a places they’ve always wanted to try.
Some Honeymoon/Minimoon tips:
- Don’t rush off the morning after the wedding-
- stay and spend some extra quality time with family and friends that may stay the night after the wedding.
- unpack from your wedding events, put away your wedding clothes and jewelry
- make a list of the gifts you received and deposit the checks and cash
- make sure you receive everything back from the venue
- pay your final bills if you haven’t already
- treat yourselves to a massage and maybe a deep conditioning treatment for your hair
Then, after the wedding details have been signed sealed and delivered, you’ve unpacked from moving in together (if that applies) and your bank account is a little larger, you can start planning for your real honeymoon to a uber romantic destination.
