If you are like us New Englanders, you have suffered through a long, dark winter and now it’s time for Summer which has my mind whirling with wedding designs that don’t include moody colors, bring on the Pastel Wedding. If you got engaged over the holiday season, congratulations, you might be also pondering wedding color palettes for your Desi Wedding as well. What we are seeing on trend is pastels, pastels, pastels and we are not upset about it! Bring on light airy colors and say so long to the bold jewel tones that have been a staple to Indian weddings for so long. We love seeing a touch of garden or rustic with this look for Indian Weddings. The deep greens of a garden look really complement the softness of a pastel. We adore this moss table number which can also be a fun DIY for you and your maids, just add wine, your bridesmaids will thank you later.
Speaking of bridesmaids, if you are considering dressing them in pastels how about different shades and hues of a pastel for their saree or anarkali? This adds a great depth and interest to your wedding photographs and your girls will love having a bit of their own look. Don’t shy away from a pastel pattern or brocade as well! There are no rules here.
My favorite place to play with color, no matter the palette, are the flowers! In my opinion Spring and Summer yield the most gorgeous florals in the best color selection. Some pastel options are Ranunculus in April, peonies in June/July, and Dahlias end of August/September. Roses are always an option but David Austin Roses are my personal favorite and come in some of the softest pastel hues. Just imagine your mandap covered in lush light florals at your pastel wedding. If overflowing florals aren’t in your budget, soft colored draping can give you the same look and effect for less. Some decorators even carry high end silk florals for the tops of your mandap where gets won’t be able to get close enough to tell the difference.
We can’t wait to see how you incorporate pastels in your 2017 or 2018 wedding! Thank you for visiting our South Asian Wedding site!
