What questions do I ask my wedding venue? What you need to know about your wedding venue.
Asking the following questions when you are visiting venues for your South Asian wedding events can help you decide what dates may work in your favor. If you choose dates that are in the off-peak season and you can save $$$$. on your hotel rooms and room rental charges.
- How many weddings do you do every year? How many of them are Indian weddings and Pakistani weddings?
- What months are your busiest in general? What are your busiest months for weddings?
- What is the capacity for each room?
- Would our wedding package include a wedding consultant to assist us?
- Would there be discounted parking available for the guests?
- Do you offer discounted rooms for wedding guests?
What are the best Catering Questions to Ask?
You know that food is one of the most important items for your wedding and wedding reception, but determining the logistics of it with your hotel can be tough. Some wedding venues in Massachusetts and Rhode Island offer Indian wedding packages which make it easy as pie when planning your South Asian wedding. But, not all venues have a built in package so you need to find out details on how the pricing works for the catering costs can help you determine what your final bill will be.
- What are your policies on outside catering? Do you have a buyout option?
- Do you have an Indian wedding package?
- Do you have an Indian chef? What caterer do you recommend?
- When can our chef start working in the kitchen? Will we need to use our chefs for the live stations?
- Where would each event be, including the cocktail reception and eating rooms?
- How would the bar services work for the reception?
- a. Are bartenders provided? b. How many bartenders per guests? c. Who provides the liquor?
- What does the hotel provide in terms of waitstaff, bartenders, linen/glassware?
- a. What is the staff to guest ratio for meals? For buffet? For cocktail hour?
- Do you provide the wedding cake? a. Is it included in the package?
- b. Are there cake cutting/ serving services provided?
- Is the champagne toasting service included or an extra charge?
- How do you determine tax and gratuity for an outside catered menu? If the venue says based on fair market value then you will want to give them a sample menu for them to give you an accurate proposal.
What do I ask my venue about having a DJ?
Your wedding DJ may also provide lighting for your wedding reception and with that comes a need for an additional power supply. They may also have additional requirements for a stage. These are two factors which may cost additional.
- DJ sound requirements? Are there any extra fees associated with using a DJ?
- a. Sound system, outlets, etc? b. will there be an AV charge?
- Is there a cutoff time where the DJ has to stop?
What do I ask the Venue about your Indian wedding ceremony?
- Are there any restrictions to having a contained fire as part of the ceremony?
- Will I have to pay for a fire marshal?
- How much time do you allow for set up?
What questions do I ask my venue for my wedding reception?
- How many people can the dance floor hold? What is the largest size of your dance floor?
- What does your dance floor look like? Wood? White?
- Is setup and cleanup included in the final price?
- How much time do you suggest for setup?
- Is there an extra charge per hour for going over the time allocation?

- What are the taxes and the gratuity?
What perks and freebies can your wedding venue provide?
There are some perks that you can get as a bride. After spending all that money you want to see if there are any benefits for working with that venue. If your wedding venue is a hotel, then you can use that to negotiate your hotel rooms and other perks.

- Is a bridal suite provided?
- Is there a complimentary honeymoon suite provided for the night of the wedding?
- Is there complimentary valet parking for my wedding guests?
- Is there a discount for booking a honeymoon at another hotel in your chain?
