Sabyasachi
The opening show for Amazon India Fashion Week was by the “it” designer of India, Sabyasachi. He set the mood for his show with his signature dark gloomy lighting and ramp. He collaborated with the hottest shoe designer in the world, Christian Louboutin who created exclusive line that seamlessly worked with the collection for a royal bride that he is best known for.
Anju Modi
Anju Modi’s presentation titled ‘Kashish’ was inspired by Persian folklore. Her work reflected influences of miniature paintings and a quote by Rumi in the press note tied the stories together. The Indian designer’s runway showcased romantic with soft updos, red lips and fresh flowers in the hair of all the models. Anju Modi‘s intricately detailed collection can be styled with separates for any bride to be or guest of an Indian wedding.
Monisha Jaising
Monisha Jaising transformed the runway into a luxury yacht—complete with chiseled seamen checking on the sunbathing models. The Indian fashion designer had her Indian brides wearing embellished sneakers. While the designer confirmed these were just for the modern bride, keep them handy in case you choose to elope. Monish Jaising’s Indian gowns appeal to the modern day bride who is looking for a lighter look for her destination weddings or as evening wear. Monisha shows us the unusual with paneled skirts, pre draped sarees, lehenga gowns, crossover bralette, voluminous gowns, embellished cigarette pants and structure jackets.
Varun Bahl
Varun Bahl’s runway show titled ‘Song of the flower’ was full of floral extravagance. Bahl converted a private residence into an opulent show area—with roses descending from the roof and lining the runway to compliment his clothing. Varun Bahl launched ‘Aurum,’ an extension of his brand that ventures into events and luxury weddings.
Reynu Tandon
Reynu Tandon showcased a vibrant collection inspired by splendor of Persia. Seen were heavily embroidered lehenga’s and anarkali’s that gave homage to Persian weaves. Showstopper Richa Chadda showed us what a Persian Princess looks like in a gold and red lehenga.
Rohit Bal
Rohit Bal’s runway inspiration was drawn from Kashmiri influences. Rohit Bal’s ‘Husn –e – Taa’iraat’ fashion show was part garden of Eden, part clothing presentation from the 1900s—the live cello and piano music, champagne and fresh flowers and fruit-laden trees made for a memorable evening. Floral clothing designs with heavy embellishments dominated the runway for Rohit Bal, showcasing us red roses and marigolds that had blossomed beautifully and were placed on floor sweeping lehengas, gowns and accessories. As expected the collection was luxurious and grand.
Shilpa Shetty walked the ramp for Rimple and Harpreet Narula. Rimple and Harpeet Narula went the vintage route taking inspiration from the time of maharajas, The Indian fashion designers recreated a vintage photobooth on the runway and the models posed for imaginary portraits through the show.
Rohit Bal

The fashion designer’s collection called the Empress Story did not dissapoint as the finale to Amazon India Fashion Week. The old world charm, captivating drapes, stunning weaves and raw bold color palette just added more than enough perfection. His show concluded with the real Empress, the stunning and evergreen beauty Aishwarya Rai walks in his best.
