Indian Fusion wedding
The sun was out with that soft summer breeze and it could not have been more perfect for Renuka and Kevin’s wedding day! They started with a trolley ride to the Boston Commons for their wedding portraits and bridal party photos. They both look gorgeous against the summer backdrop of the Boston Public Garden. Your wedding day in your words: I am really not a morning person, literally I fuss each morning that I have to wake up and it is never before 7:30 am but when the alarm went off on my wedding day at 6 am, I had more energy than any morning of my life. It was a beautiful, sunny August day and I was with every single person that I love in the world. I was so excited for the venue, the outfits, the hair/makeup and décor but, even more so, that I got to marry my best friend- someone that I had chosen and someone that my whole family saw made me so happy. There are several parts of the wedding day that I would say stick in my head as amazing but I think one of my favorites was being carried down the isle in a basket by my uncle, brother, brother in law and cousin. I chose the song Din Shagna Da Aaya Ni Aao Sakhiyon from the film Dillagi which is such a beautiful song and I was just in pure bliss.
During the ceremony there was a part where Kevin’s sister, Laura, put two toe rings on my toes but while we were walking around the fire one of my toe rings fell off! I scrunched it up with my toes and hobbled the rest of the way around the fire with it hoping no one would notice. Knowing that Indians are very auspicious, I’m still hoping it’s not bad luck or something!
Where did you get your wedding inspiration: I got a lot of my wedding inspiration from beautiful weddings that we have attended of friends and family. We had gone to several Indian and Christian weddings (you know how it is when you hit that age!) and each one had special nuances that I knew I wanted to pull into our day.
Advice for future brides: Enjoy every minute of your day because it goes by very quickly and don’t sweat the small stuff!Come back later this afternoon to see the second wedding ceremony and the reception!
