Save the date question: Do we have to send a save-the-date?
Of course not, you do not need to send one if you do not want to. If you do, it gives your Indian wedding guests plenty of time to make arrangements so that they can attend the wedding. If you are having a multi-day celebration or a destination wedding it’s probably a good idea to send out a save the date. If you’re marrying during high-travel times like a holiday weekend or summer in a beach town, it is a nice courtesy. Also if a wedding guest receives a save-the-date and will be unable to attend, they are likely to offer regrets far in advance. You still need to send a wedding invitation as a common courtesy.
When do you send out Save the Dates?
As a general rule, it’s best to mail them out at around six months prior to the wedding ceremony. If you are having a destination wedding, or getting married on a holiday weekend you should send your save the dates out eight months prior. This gives your wedding guests plenty of time to book their travel, save a bit of cash, and ask for days off from work. Any earlier, and they may toss the notice aside. Any later, and it might as well be an invitation.
Do we have to send save-the-dates to everyone?
It is not necessary, we have seen different variations on the lists that people send out Save the dates to. If you are going to send them out then you can send them to people that need to make extensive travel plans to come. Other brides to be have sent them out to close family and friends only which allowed for them to spend a little more on a unique save the date.
Before you send out your Save the Date:
Before you send out your Save the Date, you will need to create a wedding website with details on it for your guests. Some details include, lodging and airport information, dates, locations and timings of the wedding events if you have them. Your story, photos of the both of you.
