27 Duppata Styles
Being a South Asian bride, you can style your bridal look in a myriad of ways. You can show your personality or the look you want to create with how you drape your dupatta. You can create a traditional, fun or modern look all in the same lehenga! You could have worn your anarkali/ lehenga once and had your photos all over facebook but change up the drape the next time and it will look like a spanking new outfit.
Duppata Style 1
Over the head with the corner tucked in at the hip. Are you in love with the modern spin on traditional Indian wedding colors in our bride’s lehenga?
Duppata Style 2
Dupatta style: popular South Indian style known as a half saree, This Indian bridal look has the dupatta draped over your shoulder like a saree with the opposite corner tucked in to the hip. Everything is pinned and out of your way.
Duppata Style 3
Dupata style popular with Pakistani brides has the dupatta draped over the bride’s head and then pleated and draped over the wrist. We love how the maang tikka is draped on the Pakistani bride’s head.
Duppata Style 4
Dupatta bridal style in a U shape in front with the end of the dupatta draped over the wrist. We are seeing more and more brides adding more white to their wedding looks. This U shape would look great at your mehendi event.
Duppata Style 5
Duppata style: Similar to the Indian bride in #4, but the end of the bridal dupatta is attached to the bride’s wrist. This look would be great for one of your events, but might get tangled or be restricting during the wedding ceremony.
Duppata Style 6
Dupatta style: This bridal style is as elegant as it is timeless for a bride. The Indian bride’s dupatta is draped over her head with one end pleated and draped over her shoulder and the other end is pinned around her wrist.
Duppata Style 7
This Indian bridal looks straight off the runway has the bride wearing two dupattas. One is draped in the traditional Gujarati way and the other is draped over her wrist.
Duppata Style 8
Dupata style from this Desi bridal look has the dupatta draped over the bride’s head and crossed over casually in the front. The long sleeves on the blouse add a fabulously filmi vibe to the bridal look.
Duppata Style 9
Dupatta style, the ever increasing popularity of having 2 duppatas for an Indian bride. One dupatta draped over the bride’s head and the other styled in a half saree with the other end pleated and draped over her wrist. Lehenga by Tarun Tahiliani
Duppata Style 10
This is a modern twist on the traditional Indian bridal look. The lighter dupatta is draped over her head covering the bride’s face while the heavier dupatta is set back on the bride’s head and draped across her chest. Lehenga by Tarun Tahiliani
Duppata Style 11
Dupatta style is the perfect blend of modern and traditional Indian bridal clothes. This draping style would be great during a first look, but may be cumbersome during the ceremony. The lighter dupatta is draped over her head and the heavier dupatta is pleated over her shoulder and draped over her arm.
Duppata Style 12
Dupatta style is similar to the Indian bride in #9 but, this bride has the dupatta tucked into her hip. Bridal Lehenga by Neeta Lulla
Duppata Style 13
This Desi bride has her dupatta draped in a conservative style over the bride’s head and across her shoulder. This is great if you have an elaborate dupatta this would be a great style to showcase it.
Duppata Style 14
Dupatta draping style a loose half saree with the opposite corner tucked in the back. This works better with a soft material such as silk, chiffon, and satin.
Duppata Style 15
Dupatta style is similar to styles 4 and 5. The dupatta is draped in a U style and then pleated and draped over the desi bride’s wrist.
Duppata Style 16
This Indian bride had a dupatta draped in a no fuss style that she would not have to fidget with at all. It was pleated over her shoulder and the opposite end was tucked in the back.
Duppata Style 17
This Indian bride is dazzling in her purple lehenga and with her dupatta draped over her head and draped across her chest, the opposite end is pleated and draped over her shoulder.
Duppata Style 18
This Indian bride has her dupatta draped loosely over her shoulder and then pleated over her wrist.
Duppata Style 19
This Indian bride has her dupatta draped over her head with the end pleated across her chest.
Duppata Style 20
This Indian bride is also following the two dupatta trend. She has one classically draped across her chest with a short lighter dupatta over her head.
Duppata Style 21
This style of draping would be great for a wedding event outside of the actual wedding ceremony and reception as it limits your arm movements. Safety pin the dupatta on each shoulder.
Duppata Style 22
Another trend that we are seeing is the belted dupatta, while this is typical for South Indian brides, we are just now seeing it used with lehengas and sarees in different parts of India. Outfit: Pam Mehta
Duppata Style 23
This very modern style of draping can add some shape to a bridal style. If your outfit is fairly simple, but you have a gorgeous dupatta that you want to show of this is your style. This would also look great on a bride that is really thin.
Duppata Style 24
Another contemporary draping style for your dupatta. Draped in a half saree with the dupatta brought back around the front of the bridal lehenga.
Duppata Style 25
Keep it simple with a light weight dupatta draped simply over the bride’s head.
Duppata Style 27
This Pakistani bride has her dupatta draped over her head and pinned around her wrists.
