Las Vegas Flashmob Proposal
We’ve been waiting for this video since 11.11.11. Manisha and Prem’s engagement story! It was a well thought out surprise that will make even the toughest person shed a tear. Here is Manisha’s story in her own words:
It all started when I went to dinner in NYC with some friends to celebrate my birthday. Prem had to attend a wedding in Puerto Rico that weekend, and since he lives in Philadelphia, I didn’t expect to see him that evening since I thought he would be flying back to Philadelphia late that Sunday night. At the restaurant I discovered that earlier in the week he had mailed a package to our friend who was at dinner. She handed me scratch-off “Premsylvania Lottery” cards that Prem had made himself, and the concept was that I would win whichever prize appeared three times on the card. One of the lottery cards won me a birthday card from Prem. The next one revealed three pictures of him, and as soon as I turned around I saw him standing there in the restaurant! I was so surprised and happy to see him, and I found out that he had taken a bus to New York as soon as he had gotten back from Puerto Rico just a few hours earlier. I didn’t expect that there would be even more surprises in store, but he handed me several more lottery tickets, which led me to win some coins and a Las Vegas picture frame. Eventually he tied the theme together and told me that he was taking me to Las Vegas the weekend of November 11 as a birthday gift! I was extremely excited and couldn’t wait for the trip!!
After a lot of anticipation, 11/11/11 finally arrived, and I took a flight from NYC to Las Vegas, which reached at around 9pm. Prem had taken an early morning flight from Philadelphia, so he had reached Las Vegas much earlier than I did and told me he was going to spend the day gambling and catching up on sleep until I arrived. He didn’t tell me which hotel we were going to stay at until I landed at the airport. He then told me that he had booked a room at the Palazzo, which is the hotel where he first told me he loved me during a New Year’s trip to Las Vegas the previous year. When I got to the hotel room, I found a brand new dress hanging in the closet as well as shoes to match, which fit me perfectly. He told me that we had dinner reservations at the hotel restaurant where he first told me he loved me at 11pm, so we got ready and went down to the restaurant. The hostess told us they needed 5 to 10 more minutes before our table would be ready, and what was unknown to me at the time was that Prem had asked her to say that as part of his plan. He then suggested that we walk around to kill time, and he took me to a fountain close to the restaurant. We sat down in front of the fountain, and he handed me a gift-wrapped box. When I opened the box, I discovered that it was an iPad, and on it Prem had prepared a slideshow with pictures and video documenting our relationship from the very beginning to the present. I still had no idea what was coming, but I started to shake and became more and more emotional as the slideshow progressed. There was music playing throughout the slideshow, and as it was nearing the end, Prem discreetly made a signal, and the song that was playing on the iPad suddenly began playing loudly from speakers set up near the fountain. The last clip of the slideshow was a video of him walking towards that very fountain. Before I knew it, he got up, walked toward the fountain, and started dancing! I was in shock and didn’t know what was going on. Within seconds his friends emerged from the background and joined in on the dance, and I immediately started crying and felt as if I were dreaming. Gradually more and more of our friends and family came out to join the flashmob dance–30 people including Prem, and I could not believe that they had flown in from all over the country to be a part of this and had managed to keep it a secret from me for nearly two months! I was so overwhelmed with emotion, and I was finally confident that Prem was going to propose. As the dance came to an end, some of the guys formed the words “I luv u” in the background with their bodies, while everybody else surrounded Prem in the shape of a heart with “Marry You” by Bruno Mars playing in the background. Prem pulled me to the center of the heart, got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him at approximately 11:11pm. I nodded yes because I couldn’t even get the word out. It was without a doubt the happiest moment of my life, and I felt like the luckiest girl in the world to get engaged to such an amazing person in the presence of my closest family and friends!!
After taking pictures, Prem took me back to the hotel room and gave me one last lottery ticket, which displayed three pictures of the beautiful ring he had given me and three pictures of the two of us, and the ticket promised me a “Lifetime of Prem.” He also shared videos of both my parents and his parents congratulating us on the engagement. We spent the rest of the night and early morning celebrating with everyone on a nightclub rooftop at the Bellagio, and it was definitely the best night of my life! I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect proposal and cannot wait to marry the guy of my dreams!!
