Engagement Proposal Story
We are sharing Sowji and Tulasi’s engagement proposal story from Sowji’s perspective. Here it is in her own words:
Tulasi and I got engaged in August of 2011 and exchanged rings according to the Hindu traditions. While we were engaged according to the Hindu customs, he kept me waiting a little longer before he “put a ring on it” and proposed in the American tradition. Tulasi decided to surprise me with a beautiful diamond engagement ring on our flight to Malaysia in January 2012. While I was completely passed out, with the rest of the passengers, Tulasi made his move. He discussed the plan with the flight attendants, who were eager to be a part of something so special. I woke up when my TV screen randomly lit up and found a flight attendant standing over me trying to turn it off.
I thought it was a bit awkward but I figured there was just something wrong with the TV and went back to sleep. Ten minutes later, I woke up with Tulasi standing next to me with five flight attendants behind him. Tulasi opened the ring box and proposed. I was absolutely stunned and speechless.
Suddenly, the flight attendants started jumping up and down and were all asking “what’s your answer?!?!” and I shouted “YES! OF COURSE, YES!!” The flight attendants were so excited for us, they gave us chocolates and champagne and were so excited for us the rest of the flight. No other flight will ever be the same! It was the perfect proposal for us!
