When I was still in school, a dear friend asked me to shoot his wedding. I didn’t know what I was doing but I loved it. I remember later looking at the prints and staring at this yellowish picture of the bride getting ready. My first instinct was to take it out of the box since it was a “mistake”. My flash didn’t go off but the picture had a haunting quality. My “mistake” ended up as the couple’s favorite picture. I took that lesson to heart. Traditional wedding photography and the predictable, rigid clichés and poses make everything look the same. Your love is unique and so your pictures should be just as unique and breathtaking. I love taking pictures of people. Especially at weddings, in the midst of all the love, excitement and wonderful madness, something strange happens… people suddenly forget the stress of months of planning and they give in to the joy. It’s really special to be a part of that. I am not interested in capturing thousands of pictures of every single second of the event, relevant or not. I am looking for the bigger picture, the very essence of this special day, unscripted, as it unfolds, so looking back you will be able to relive it and to share it with your grandchildren.
