Bridal Mehndi Do’s and Don’ts

We’ve rounded up the top 10 Do’s and Don’t for your Wedding Henna Designs.

Here is the perfect list on how to create a bridal henna design that you will cherish for years to come. From bringing photos of your wedding lehenga to having a love letter written out on your hands read about our designs here. To see what type of manicure would look best see our article here

DO: Bring your wedding outfit or a photo of your outfit if you would like the artist to match your mehndi design to it. (Photo)
DO: Bring photos of mehndi styles that you like so your artist knows the look you are trying to go for. Need some inspiration? Check out our Pinterest page on Mehndi here.
DO: Bring photos of you and your groom if you would like a custom design featuring your faces (photo)
DO: Be sure to schedule AT LEAST 4 hours to get your bridal mehndi – it will take a long time to have both feet and both hands done. Remember, your mehndi artist will probably need to take a break once or twice AND you need to give it time to dry completely.
DO: Schedule mehndi time for important family/friends. Mother of the Bride/Mother of the Groom, Maid of Honor, Bridesmaids, etc.  We recommended having it done before your event
DO: Have you henna put on 2 days before your wedding in order to give it time to darken.
DONT: Drink too much water the day you are getting your mehndi done. It will be hard to go once your mehndi is applied, so make sure you go to the bathroom right before you start. If you have to go, designate a bridesmaid/friend/family member to get her henna done last so she can help you. That same person should also feed you at some point too 🙂
DONT: Fall asleep on your hands!! Just don’t fall asleep at all until you take it off! You don’t want this to happen!!
CONSIDER: Some brides get their mehndi done the morning of their mehndi party or the night before so they can enjoy the party and mingle with their guests.
Pros: You can wear whatever you want, no need for hair and makeup or anything, you can just be in your sweatpants in the living room if you want.
Cons: No mehndi application photos.
