The statistics just came out for the Average wedding costs in 2011. Take a look, but be warned they don’t apply to South Asian weddings. We are on a mission to compile statistics from brides and vendors in the South Asian wedding market. Carley Roney, editor in chief of The Knot Inc. stated “Approximately 1 in 5 brides are spending more than $30,000 on their wedding, and 12% of brides are spending more than $40,000.”

- June is the most popular wedding month (15% of couples marry in June)
- The average wedding cost $27,000 in 2010 (excluding the honeymoon)
- 24% of weddings are destination weddings
- On average a wedding has 4 bridesmaids and 4 groomsmen
- The average bride is 29 years old, the average groom is 31
- The average number of guests is 141 (with $194 spent on each)
- 14% of couples propose in December
- The average engagement length is 14 months and 74% of couples live together prior to the wedding
